Still waiting for my pancreas to send a postcard from vacation
Living with Type 1: chaotic, inconvenient, and occasionally hilarious. Whether you’re managing type 1, or just trying to understand your weird diabetic cousin—
Welcome aboard.
About this blog
I’ll be painting the picture of life with Type 1 Diabetes—messy, meaningful, and occasionally held together by juice boxes.
01
—Explaining the Struggles and Wins
I’ll tell you how diabetes has crashed into my life—and how it might be sneakily affecting you or someone you know. From the physical chaos to the psychological plot twists, I’m here to say: if you’ve ever cried over a glucose reading or needed a snack at the worst possible moment, you’re in the right place.
02
—Telling my story
Even though diabetes has been studied for decades, the healthcare system still manages to give “confused NPC energy.” I’ll share how I’ve navigated the U.S. system (spoiler: with snacks and sarcasm), even during those moments when I needed a vacation from, well… life.

—For the Diabetics Who Feel Like They’re Doing It Wrong
This blog isn’t about being a perfect diabetic. I’ve missed doses, raged at my CGM, and eaten things I shouldn’t (and then eaten more of them out of spite). What I’ve learned is this: you can be in progress and still be doing better. You’re allowed to grow slowly. You’re allowed to have setbacks. And you’re still worthy of care, respect, and your own patience. I’m not here to tell you how to be perfect. I’m here to walk beside you while we both figure it out.

—What It’s Like Inside the Head of Someone with T1D
T1D is like having a very dramatic pancreas you have to babysit forever. It’s invisible, misunderstood, and often exhausting. I’ll try to paint the picture from the inside—so your non-diabetic relatives can finally stop asking if it’s “the bad kind,” and you can feel a little less alone on the ride.
In my own words:

Welcome aboard:
I’m building this space to share my mess of a journey—diabetes, ADHD, healing, burnout, broke dreams, and all.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re supposed to “just push through” but your pancreas (or brain) didn’t get the memo… you’re not alone.
We’ve all got dreams. Mine just come with a bit more insulin and introspection.
“We might feel more stuck than most—but we won’t stay down. We keep moving, keep growing, and come out stronger after every struggle.”
—Christain Martell
One day, I’d love for this to grow into a community—where we can learn from each other, vent, laugh, and feel a little less alone.
For now, feel free to just read along. I’m glad you’re here.
Heads up:
Diabetes hits hard—physically and mentally. It’s more than just blood sugar.
What I share here comes from lived experience, and it might give you a better view from the inside.
What’s next?
Growing up with diabetes wasn’t easy—and what happened in the years that followed shaped everything.
I’ll be sharing stories, struggles, and small wins from that journey next.

Things I’ve learned so far
- You’re not alone, even when it feels like it.
2. You can’t out-stubborn your pancreas
3. Healing isn’t linear, but soda cravings are
4. ADHD and diabetes should not be allowed to team up
5. Small wins matter (a lot)
